I am a social entrepreneur that has set up and run a number of nonprofits; mostly in the field of international development. Early in 2007 i had a serious emotional crisis which shook me profoundly and resulted in a decision to leave both my marriage and my job. For several weeks i wrote to keep myself away from the edge and within a short period i had written a book which is something i am still working on.

Also, i founded a website called www.bigwhitewall.com and i wanted to tell you something about it.

What is Big White Wall?
Big White Wall is the place for emotional health online (www.bigwhitewall.com).  It is a support network where, anonymously, people can honestly express everyday worries and deeper concerns, talk these through openly with others and learn more about how to be emotionally healthy.
•    It is big as it is an infinite space for human emotion
•    It is white as it provides a blank canvas for open, honest and anonymous expression
•    It is a wall as it provides support and strength to those who may be feeling emotionally vulnerable

Who is Big White Wall for?
Emotional health is important to everyone in the world – everyone has something they keep inside which worries them or is a burden to them such as financial, work-related, family or relationship issues. At the current time, there is very little service provision in the emotional health sector online.
Traditionally people have found release of emotional and psychological pressures by using their support networks.  Many of these networks have disappeared as individuals no longer have strong community ties due to increasing mobility, long working hours and a greater likelihood of living alone. Big White Wall takes traditional offline safety nets and recreates them as a global online support network thereby providing people with a place to go online to address the issues which effect their emotional health.

What does Big White Wall offer?
•    Users can feel better immediately by expressing their thoughts and feelings on The Wall using images, text or by drawing using the Brick Builder tool. User can also Gift a Brick completely anonymously to a friend who may be emotionally troubled and would appreciate a place to vent his or her feelings.
•    On Talkabout, users can connect to a world of support as part of a dynamic community of users that talks about issues and concerns that are important to them. 
•    Users can build friendship networks and exchange private messages.
•    On Useful Stuff users can learn more about themselves and particular emotional health issues by browsing stimulating articles from a range of authors including leading psychologists.
•    On News Walls users can express their open and honest feelings around specific issues or events
